Vânia Maria Nonnenmacher Bündchen, the mother of world-famous model Gisele Bündchen, passed away at the age of 75 in Porto Alegre. Her death was confirmed this Sunday (28) by the Hospital Moinhos de Vento, where she had been admitted two days earlier for cancer treatment.
The Hospital Moinhos de Vento issued an official statement revealing that the cause of death was complications related to cancer. The news of Vânia’s passing has deeply affected the community, considering her connection to one of the world’s most celebrated models.
Previr Funeral Services released a death notice and announced that Vânia’s wake is scheduled for Monday morning (29), at the Ecumenical Chapel of the Metropolitan Crematorium in Porto Alegre. The farewell ceremony is set for noon.
Vânia, a retired banker who worked at Banco do Brasil, was known for her low-profile presence on social media. She was married to Valdir Bündchen, a university professor, and leaves behind a legacy of family dedication, having raised six daughters: twins Gisele and Patrícia, Rafaela, Raquel, Graziela, and Gabriela. The family hails from Horizontina, in the northwest of Rio Grande do Sul, and is well-known in the region, especially due to Gisele Bündchen’s international success.
