Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world are about to receive a new dose of adventure with the announcement of “The War of the Rohirrim,” the next film trilogy based in “The Lord of the Rings” universe. This new installment, set to continue the legendary narrative of hobbits and elves, is scheduled for release on December 13 this year, leveraging the Christmas campaign to attract a wide audience.
Unlike the previous installments directed by Peter Jackson, this new story takes a turn towards animation under the direction of Kenji Kamiyama, known for his work on “Jin-Roh” and the “Ghost in the Shell” series. “The War of the Rohirrim” transports us to a time 183 years before the original trilogy, focusing on the story of Helm “Hammerhand,” the king of Rohan, and his conflict with the Dunlending army led by Wulf, who seeks revenge for the death of his father Freca.
The film promises to be a visual and narrative spectacle, featuring the return of iconic locations like Helm’s Deep and the participation of Miranda Otto, who played Éowyn in Peter Jackson’s trilogy, as the narrator. “The War of the Rohirrim” is poised to be one of the year’s most anticipated films, inviting Tolkien’s followers to once again experience the magic of his stories during the December season.
