Helena Rojo, Star of ‘Careful with the Angel’ and ‘The Privilege to Love’, Dies at 79

The National Association of Actors of Mexico announced on Sunday (4) the death of renowned actress Helena Rojo, at 79, famous for her roles in Mexican telenovelas that have been popular in Brazil, such as “The Privilege to Love” and “Careful with the Angel”.

“Our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues,” the entity expressed in a note of sorrow shared on social media. The passing occurred on Saturday afternoon (3) in Mexico City. The cause has not been disclosed. According to Quién magazine’s website, the actress had been diagnosed with cancer, though she did not speak publicly about her health.

Helena Rojo had a career spanning over 50 years in acting, starting as a model. Her debut on the screen was in the film “The Suicide Club” in 1970. In 1974, she was hired by the Mexican network Televisa, making her debut in the telenovela “Stranger in his town”.

On Brazilian screens, in addition to “The Privilege to Love” and “Careful with the Angel”, the actress appeared in the broadcasts of the telenovela “Embrace Me Very Tight” and “Wild Heart”.

The actress leaves behind three children. The wake and burial, according to the Mexican press, will be restricted to the family.
