Hey, folks! Hot off the press, “Joker: Folie à Deux” just got stamped with an R rating! Yep, the sequel to our beloved 2019 “Joker”, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is not holding back. Why? Well, it’s a cocktail of intense violence, language that would make our parents blush, a sprinkle of sexuality, and yes, even a hint of nudity, because why not, right?
The vibe is much like the first film, which didn’t skimp on the gore, disturbing behavior that makes you question sanity, and dialogue that’s definitely not family dinner material. Todd Phillips is back at the helm, and with him, Phoenix, stepping into the role only he can embody. And to spice things up, Lady Gaga joins the fray as Harley Quinn, the perfect counterpart to our Joker.
Speaking of which, Variety dropped the bomb that the film will mostly be a jukebox musical, featuring at least 15 renditions of songs we all know and love, including one made famous by Judy Garland. And get this, there might be a couple of original tracks hitting the soundtrack.
After blowing minds in Venice and making the Oscars gawk, “Joker” and its billion-dollar haul promise to come back with a bang. And Gaga? After shining in “A Star Is Born” and “House of Gucci”, it’s clear she’s here to stay in the film biz.
Mark your calendars: October 4, Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing “Joker: Folie à Deux” to a theater near you. Ready?
